Help us reach communities and empower them by giving them the knowledge and tools to recover their public spaces. We have the three following types of workshop:
1. MACRO $4200 is a three-month program for kids between ten and fifteen years old, as an after-school workshop. TEP team works with local leaders, and sets a place to teach the children. Over this workshop the participants learn to observe, imagine and transform public spaces. After the workshops, the children close a transformation cycle, from finding something that can be changed, to implementing that change. Throughout the workshop they learn to create and read a map of their community, to make photographic compositions, to expose their ideas to the rest of the community, to negotiate with neighbors their designs, to make models using real proportions, and learn about construction techniques using recycled materials. The children also are empowered to present their ideas, while exhibiting their proposals to community members. During this exhibition, the children finally demonstrate to their community that things can be changed with their own efforts and resources, and that highlight the need of taking care of public spaces in order to have a better quality of life.
2. INTENSIVE $3000 is a one week, six-day long workshop, for children between ten and fifteen years of age, as an after-school activity. They go through the transformation cycle but on a shorter period of time, doing fewer activities then the MACRO workshop, and only building a temporary intervention of the space.
3. MICRO is a one day workshop for all ages, inviting citizens to address one of the three steps of the transformation cycle. The impact of this program is to create awareness about urban topics and demonstrate that coming together as neighbors can have big impact.
