WHO WE ARE

Trazando Espacios is a non-profit organization focused on teaching and building citizenship through participatory design to transform public spaces. The organization develops educational programs for young people between 10 and 14 years old that live in communities with a transformation potencial.

To be the leader organization in America on transforming people and meeting spaces that serve to the common good.

  • Empowerment, because we believe that the citizen has de power to change its reality.
  • Inclusion of the people from the community, trough experiences that impact them positively both personally and as groups of the community.   
  • Synergy, because we believe that interdisciplinarity and the collaboration of each one from their own knowledge areas, let us achieve our goals.
  • Empathy to understand our environment and the different situations that this could entail so we can show solidarity.
  • Creativity, as a tool of innovation to construct and encourage new meeting spaces for the different communitites.
  • Ecological conscience, making use of recyclable materials to decrease the negative impact of these on the planet and build spaces.   

OUR METHODOLOGY

We work under an original, replicable and sustainable methodology, developed by our director and founder, Ana Vargas, during her master in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The methodology is recognized in India, Venezuela, United States and Chile, countries where we've done our workshops. Also awarded by:

  • Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) as Best Graduate Thesis. 2014
  • UN Habitat's International Award for Best Practices with the Dubai Municipality. 2014
  • "Improving lives in Venezuelan cities" Inter-american Development Bank IDB and Impact Hub Caracas. 2016
  • Recognition for collaborating on a safer and more integrated city of Caracas by the Mayor of Caracas. 2016
  • AFIELD Fellowship 2018 Award, granted by the elaboration of a digital manual that will allow others to replicate the Trazando Espacios methodology in any country.
